TIFTON, Ga. â Despite not having an in-person gala because of the pandemic, the ABAC Foundation set a record in February by raising funds for student scholarships at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College through A Week for ABAC.
ABAC Arts Connection Director Wayne Jones, who coordinated the event, said the Foundation set a record by raising nearly $130,000 for more than 50 student scholarships.
âWhen we first realized we would not be able to host an in-person event, there was no question that we would push forward and reimagine the event virtually,â Jones said. âItâs just too important for our students.

AMERICAN CANYON â Twelve-year-old Chrystabelle Ramp of American Canyon is used to selling thousands of boxes of Girl Scout cookies annually, and though the pandemic has put a damper on this yearâs sales, her mother says the new reality provides its own life lesson.
The sixth-grader, who has been in Girl Scouts for some five years, sold 2,064 boxes last year to fund a trip to the Galapagos Islands, her mother, Charissa Ramp said.
âHer trip ended up being canceled, and then rescheduled for this summer,â she said. âSheâs selling this year to raise money for her Girl Scout Camp that took major fire damage last season.â
Counties and municipal governments can use the funds to cover expenses and lost revenue related to the pandemic or to invest in water, sewer and broadband infrastructure.
ITHACA, NY Grainfulâs newest products are quickly becoming best sellers, but havenât strayed from the companyâs focus on oat-based meals. Korean-style vegetable BBQ and green goddess falafel are two of the latest creations from the South Hillâbased health food company.
Though not a new company in the area, Grainfulâs continued success has led to it being carried in chains around the country like Acme Markets, H-E-B, Wegmans, Walmart and Price Chopper.
The inspiration behind Grainful was to bring great tasting, healthy, convenient meals to college campuses. However, at the time they found the distribution channel to bring a fresh product to students wasnât there yet, so they decided to explore frozen foods.
